Tonga Tsunami Appeal

By now all of you are well aware that on 14th of January 2022 an underwater volcano erupted in the Pacific Ocean triggering a tsunami that hit the island nation of Tonga causing significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture. By God’s grace in the immediate aftermath there were only three deaths. The country is blanketed by ash which is hindering relief operations. The need of the hour is clean drinking water and clearance of debris to prevent infectious diseases. Communication from the island is still patchy and the real extent of damage will only be evident in the coming weeks and months.

Thankfully we received a short email from Pastor Havili Sefesi who is the Healthcare Christian Fellowship Oceania representative in Tonga. He informed us that they are all safe but there is significant damage to infrastructure and vegetation and requested ongoing prayer. As a result of this catastrophe the livelihood of many families are now under threat, and they need the help of the outside world.

We as believers have the rich tradition of Paul to follow, who collected funds from churches in Macedonia & Achaia (Rom 15:25-26) to distribute it among the poor in Jerusalem. Let us fellowship with our brethren in their time of need by digging deep and contributing towards rebuilding lives and livelihood in the beautiful island nation of Tonga.

HCFO is strategically positioned to help our neighbours in the Oceania region. The Lord has used HCFO in the past to make significant contributions to the relief operations in Vanuatu, Sri Lanka and India following natural calamities and pandemic.

Feel free to forward this to your church & christian friends who have a burden for the missions.
